Bring on the big guns! Or should we say, bring on the Bosch GBS100A. The Bosch 4” belt sander is an industrial duty heavy weight machine.

If you have read the other reviews you would know that the tester is using the sander on a rough & uneven recycled timber floor. We fitted a 40grit belt to the Bosch & started sanding.  Talk about removing a heap of stock!  This 4” sander really had some grunt & it was unstoppable.

This machine is extremely well balanced, so there is no problem sanding quickly up close to the skirting board. The belt is also designed to allow you to work right up to the edges.  We were impressed by the great finish left by this belt sander.

A supporting frame is available as an optional extra, which holds the machine upside down.  This allows the GBS100A to be used as a Linisher, which would be great for the tradesman to use on-site for metal shaping or tool sharpening.

As the testing of these belt sanders was done on an internal timber floor, we connected the dust extractor to this machine.  The extraction port on the Bosch GBS100A is perfectly located out of the way of the operators’ movements & trails with the electrical cord beautifully.

After using a big 4” sander for an hour, you know that you have really given the tool a good workout.

The front handgrip on this sander is adjustable & comfortable for long term use.  

Whilst the 4” Bosch has less features than some of the other belt sanders we reviewed, it is a big simple machine made for removing a lot of stock in a short period of time.  It is a serious tool, made for the big jobs!
